Full Description
The CJTC Handgun Optics Instructor is a 24-hour course. The course is designed to bring current firearms instructors up to date on the fundamentals of teaching and integrating handgun optics into their training curriculum or agency program.  We strongly recommend this course if you or your agency is in the process of approving the use of, or converting to, handgun optics.

Due to the advancing technology of optics, the trend for duty use is increasing at a rapid pace.  To meet this challenge and stay relevant with emerging tools and tactics, we will cover the technology, concepts, principles, and training methodologies to prepare instructors to teach the optics platform to experienced or novice shooters.

One of the most common pieces of feedback is that instructors did not realize how much there was to learn from a user AND instructor perspective for Optics use on duty handguns.

Prerequisites: Current CJTC Handgun Instructor Certification, Private Security Handgun Certification, and other handgun instructor certifications would be evaluated by the Firearms Program Manager

Audience:  Active law enforcement officers, corrections officers, and private security officers who meet the prerequisites.

Dress Code: For security reasons, while on the WSCJTC campus are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform and have their agency ID badge visible.

Cancelation Policy:
1) Registration will be completed 45 days before the course start date.
2) Invoices for the course will be generated and sent to respective agencies on the first day of the course. Payment for the course is expected within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
3) Cancellations of registered attendees must occur before the registration date for the course. The cancellation must be submitted by the agency's training coordinator to the program registrar via email.
a. If cancellation occurs within 45 days of the course start date, the agency will be invoiced for the full tuition cost and are expected to pay the full price of tuition within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
b. The WSCJTC encourages replacing the attendee who had to cancel with another attendee from the same agency. In certain circumstances, a credit can be extended to the agency for another course date.

Prerequisites
You must have a current CJTC Handgun Level 1 Certification or current PS Handgun Instructor Certification.

Provide the date of your last CJTC Handgun Instructor Level 1 Certification/Recertification or PS Handgun Instructor Certification/Recertification.

Resources Required
• Duty handgun equipped with Optic AND iron sights. Optic capable holster on patrol duty belt
         with a minimum of 3 magazines.
• Flashlight
• Eye protection
• Hearing protection – electronic headphones and earplugs
• Weapon cleaning equipment
• Body armor
• Baseball hat
• Laptop or note-taking material

Required Ammunition (agency responsibility)

• 1000 rounds primary handgun (clean fire required in Burien - Total Metal Jacket)
Reporting Instructions
Class will be held from 0800 to 1700 over the course of three days.

Burien classes may be held in the evening, depending on range availability.
