The 80 hour Animal Control Officer Academy is designed for the professional Animal Control Officer.
Full Description
The 80-hour Animal Control Officer Academy is specifically designed for the professional Animal Control Officer.  It is an intensive course, with the curriculum instructed by CJTC instructors and Animal Care and Control instructors.

Topics covered in this training include, but not limited to:

• Animal hoarding & psychology of a hoarder
• Basic investigations & animal cruelty investigations
• Blood sports
• Canine body language & breed identification
• Animal capture & restraint
• Cat behavior
• Crisis intervention
• Court room procedures
• Criminal law overview
• Dangerous dog laws
• Equine & livestock handling
• Ethics
• Officer safety & self defense
• Report writing
• Identifying wildlife, reptiles & exotics
• Search & seizure
• State & local law review
• Zoonosis, rabies and pet first aid

Audience:  Tass is only open to active animal control officers who meet the prerequisites.

Pre-Course Work: Submission of the ACO Criminal Records Check form at the time of registration.

Dress Code:  For security reasons, while on the WSCJTC campus are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform and have their agency ID badge visible.

Cancellation Policy: Deadline to cancel is 7 days prior to class.  There is a $450 no show or late cancellation fee. Cancellations are done by the agency's training manager in the WSCJTC Acadis Portal.

Must be employed by a law enforcement agency or animal control agency with full or limited commission.
