Brief Description: Field Training Officer (FTO)

Full Description: This 40-hour course presents the FTO model (sometimes called the San Jose Model program) to field trainers engaged in training those who have recently completed the BLEA, Corrections or Equivalency academies.

Classroom topics will include:

• The composition and components of the FTO program
• Adult learning theories, principles, and styles
• Developing and presenting lesson materials
• The Coach-Pupil Method of instruction
• Duties and responsibilities of program personnel
• Use of evaluation tools (DOR, SEG)

Audience: Actively employed as a Field Training Officer.

Pre-Course Work: None

Dress Code: For security reasons, while on the WSCJTC campus are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform and have their agency ID badge visible.

Cancelation Policy: Cancellation Policy: Deadline to cancel is 7 days prior to class. There is a $95 no show or late cancellation fee. Cancellations are done by the agency's training manager in the WSCJTC Acadis Portal
