Full Description
Crisis Intervention Team-Youth, is an 8-hour in-service class, designed to train police officers and mental health experts who have a role in CIT training in their department or region. This course will use the new youth-focused curriculum and add valuable tools to the CIT trained personnel at your department. CIT was developed by law enforcement for law enforcement.

CIT – Youth will address critical youth specific topics including:

• Adolescent development principles
• Youth mental health symptoms and disorders
• Crisis de-escalation and interventions skills and communication techniques
• Local service and resources linkages for youth (e.g., mental health and crisis)

Audience: King County Sheriff, Police, Jail Staff, and Other First Responders in King County are eligible for this course. If space available, it will open to agencies statewide.

Pre-Course Work: None

Dress Code: For security reasons, while on the WSCJTC campus are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform and have their agency ID badge visible.

Reimbursement: Reimbursement is available for this class. See the CIT Reimbursement Rates below.

Cancellation Policy: Deadline to cancel is 7 days prior to class. Cancellations are done by the agency's training manager in the WSCJTC Acadis Portal.
